Sweet Witches Fingers
 

A sweet biscuit for Halloween

8oz plain flour
4oz of cold unsalted butter ( cut into small cubes)
3 oz of caster sugar
a few drops of vanilla essence and Almond essence
pinch of salt
grated rind of lemon ( unwaxed )
1 egg ( medium )

  1. sift the flour into your food processor

  2. add all the other ingredients
    turn  on the machine and mix in short little bursts

  3. keep going until pastry forms a ball, do not overwork it or the pastry will become tough

  4. wrap and place in refrigerator for 1 hour

  5. shape into fingers

  6. add the almonds

  7. bake for 9-10 minutes

  8. Leave to cool on a wire rack

  9. paint fingernails with the red food colouring


For the fingernails:
whole almonds
red edible food colour

preheat oven at 190C

Bake for 9-10 minutes
