A
sweet biscuit for Halloween
8oz
plain flour
4oz of cold unsalted butter ( cut into small cubes)
3 oz of caster sugar
a few drops of vanilla essence and Almond essence
pinch of salt
grated rind of lemon ( unwaxed )
1 egg ( medium )

sift the flour into your
food processor
-
add all the other ingredients
turn on the machine and mix in short little bursts
-
keep going until pastry forms a ball, do not overwork it or the pastry
will become tough
-
wrap and place in refrigerator for 1 hour

shape into fingers
-
add the almonds
-
bake for 9-10 minutes

Leave to cool on a wire rack

paint fingernails with the red food colouring
For the fingernails:
whole almonds
red edible food colour
preheat oven at 190C
Bake for 9-10 minutes
