Short crust pastry:
1 lb ( 450g ) plain sifted flour
8oz (225g ) butter ( very cold unsalted butter )
pinch of salt
a little milk A jar
of Mincemeat
- rub the butter into the flour with
the added salt
- knead fast and gently
- wrap into cling
film
- place into refrigerator for 1
hour
- roll out on a floured board and cut
round shapes ( 2 sizes ) and
place larger ones into a greased cup tart baking tray
- fill generously with mincemeat
- brush the edge of the pastry with
milk and place the smaller rounds on top
- brush the top with milk
- prick a little hole into the top for
the hot air to escape
- bake in a preheated oven at 200C (
400F/Gas6 )
for
15-20 minutes
- dust with powder sugar
- serve hot or cold with cream
