Mince Pies

 

A very special  Christmas treat. 
More Christmas Recipes

Short crust pastry:
1 lb ( 450g ) plain sifted flour
8oz (225g ) butter ( very cold unsalted butter )
pinch of salt
a little milk

A jar of Mincemeat

  1. rub the butter into the flour with the added salt
  2. knead fast and gently
  3. wrap into cling film
  4. place into refrigerator  for 1 hour
  5. roll out on a floured board and cut round shapes  ( 2 sizes ) and place larger ones into a greased cup tart baking tray
  6. fill generously with mincemeat
  7. brush the edge of the pastry with milk and place the smaller rounds on top
  8. brush the top with milk
  9. prick a little hole into the top for the hot air to escape
  10. bake in a preheated oven at 200C ( 400F/Gas6 )
    for 15-20 minutes
  11. dust with powder sugar
  12. serve hot or cold with cream
