A very special
Christmas
treat.
Bake well in advance to improve it's flavour, as it will keep for a few weeks. Wrap in foil or store in an airtight container and keep in a cool place.
150g ( 51/2oz) unsalted butter, soft
200g ( 7oz ) brown sugar
250g ( 9oz ) flour
250g ( 9oz ) cocoa
2 eggs
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
1 pinch of ground cloves
1 pinch of salt
250g ( 9oz ) whole hazelnuts
milk to brush on
-
cream the butter and
sugar together
-
mix in the flour, cocoa,
eggs, spices and the pinch of salt
-
knead well and add the
nuts
-
roll out onto a greased
baking tray
-
brush with milk and
place into a preheated oven at 200C for 20-25 minutes
-
when a little cooler cut
into small portions and store in an airtight container
The longer you store them
